OUR JOURNEY

Hiranya. In the ancient verses of the Rig Veda, the word means made of gold. The Ramayana and the Mahabharata speak of hiranya vastra — the fabric of the gods. Not gold in the way of excess. Gold in the way of something rare, enduring, and worthy of care.

That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

We were born on the 16th of April, 2022, in Kalimpong — a small hill town in the Eastern Himalayas, where the air is clean and life moves slowly. It felt like the right place to begin something intentional.

Every piece of clothing at Hiranya begins long before it reaches you.

It begins in Fulia and Katwa, where master weavers bend over their looms before dawn. In Varanasi, where Banarasi silk has been woven for centuries by families who have known no other craft. In Chanderi, Malda, Burdwan — in hands that carry generations of knowledge the world is slowly forgetting.

We work directly with these weavers. We pay them fairly. We believe that the person who makes your clothes deserves dignity, security, and recognition — not exploitation dressed up as tradition.

Slow fashion, to us, is not an aesthetic. It is a position.

When you choose a handloom piece, you are choosing to slow down. To own less and value more. To wear something that took days to make, not minutes. Something that will outlast trends because it was never chasing them.

And then there is the part of our story we are most proud of.

Every time you buy from Hiranya, a person experiencing homelessness receives a clean, comfortable, climate-appropriate set of clothes. This is our campaign — Wear One, Clothe One — and it is the reason Hiranya exists as a business at all. We built a brand so this campaign could sustain itself.

Small changes. Real impact. One purchase at a time.

This is where your clothes begin.
